3D Modeling & Printing

Modeling software: Fusion360 // 3D printers: ELEGOO Neptune 4 Pro Max

I took my first 3D printing class my Junior year at Troy University in the Fall of 2022. I applied my love of architecture to this medium.

My senior thesis was focused on my path in life through architecture. I modeled and printed five buildings, First National Bank of Omaha, John Maloy Long Hall, Chrysler Building, International Arts Center, and the Stance Headquarters.

Additionally, I did six cities; Charlotte, Manhattan, Chicago, Vancouver, Seattle, and Nashville.

Post-processing

After a print is finished post-processing takes place. This includes taking off supports and cleaning up edges on the print. The video above shows the post-processing of John Maloy Long Hall while watching and listening to Troy football highlights.

The video below shows post-processing on the cities and different buildings. The spires on the smaller buildings in the cities were made of wire and melted into the PLA with a micro torch. Once settled, they were painted white.

Special thanks to my senior thesis director, Walter Black and the guidance from the entire Troy University Art and Design faculty.
